Prelude to Idnit Notes is all about me and my writing … you see,
I have been writing for as long as I remember … diaries, prayer journals, regular correspondence with family and friends, class lessons and now, blogging – or journaling on the web. Well, I have pages and pages in little notepads that are filled with my “Idnit Notes”. Little writings that I’ve put together over a period of time that usually came about as a response to a reaction I experienced in living. These notebooks are here and there throughout my home and I started transcribing a few to my laptop about a year ago … I ran across some of them a few minutes ago. Some notes are sad, some are funny, a few are bittersweet – I hope all will thought provoking. Why would I share these intimate notes with you and the world at large? Well, my site says it all – you see, we’re on this journey and we’re not on alone. Maybe just one of my notes will help you see your way more clearly, hopefully, you’ll share a comment that may help me on my journey.
I have a plan … I will publish my Idnit Notes! I have enough for a book but for now, I think every Saturday will be Idnit Day on my website.
Idnit exciting to have an idea, run with it and then voila! A new project going on in life!
Idnit exciting? Yes, indeedy!
Now, let’s get serious … and this comes about from my previous note all about IT – that movie. ‘Can we, or can’t we’ make a difference in our lifetime. What would Christ do with this?
Here was an Idnit Note from September 2008.
*********
Idnit the Saddest Thing in the world to just know too much?
I hate having my blissful ignorance taken away from me like it was at the Mission Workshop – You see, I was ignorant on just how Slavery and Trafficking of the innocents was so rampant in our society – with internet and modern technology it is getting easier and faster to have this whole massive group of invisible people living in our world. Children, babies, women are being sold as slaves for all sorts of diabolical purposes. They’re living in fear, abuse, darkness and cruelty.
I hate this – I hate it happening. I hate it being in my head. But I chose to expose myself to this knowledge – no matter how painful it is to me I know that knowledge is power and the more people that know about this outrage and do something about it then the more apt it is for one more child to be freed, one more woman to be emancipated.
You may think you can’t do a thing about this – well, PRAYER is a mighty tool to use – realizing God can put the right people and circumstances into the exact place.
Also, if you haven’t yet, watch the movie “Amazing Grace” and witness the tenacity of one man and the magnificent upheaval he finally caused to happen in his world.
Here are 2 websites that you can learn from and see just how you might fit into the picture of the abolishment of slavery in our lifetime.
Here’s the site of Invisible Children and schools they are starting. Look around the site and see options like ….
Here’s where you can help rescue Child Soldiers.
Sometimes it may all you can do is buy a gift for one of your kids that makes an impression on them and helps a cause … that can be a big thing.
Idnit the saddest thing to KNOW and DO NOTHING? But praise God – knowledge can be turned into Power and great things will be accomplished!
Hooray for Christ, our example in all freeing of those in bondage. How can He use me? You? Your church, your office staff, your family – just what can be done?
Let’s think about this and be prompted to DO.
