I believe, when possible, holidays are almost holy days when we purpose to spend time with family. Sometimes you have to choose to be with this family at one time and other family the next time. But any which way your family works out holidays they are a season to Celebrate! It is always worth the effort. The true wealth and abundance in life is seen in our own relationships and interactions with our own precious family. Yay!

We had the privilege of Gathering for Thanksgiving … it was a blessed time that flew by quickly. So many families seem to live here and yonder nowadays, and ours is no different … our group of ten call North Carolina, Tennessee, and Arkansas home and in the early part of the new year that will change to Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Honduras! Indeed, very far apart for ones that love each other so much.

Our times together are filled to over-flowing with love yous, and smiles and fun and laughter, cooking, and eating, and of course there is the family bickering that will happen as long as there are humans in the bunch. Now that grandbabies are in the mixture there’s storybooks, teaparties, bottles and rocking chair times! All in all, I love it! It is almost sacred. The conclusion comes too quickly but there is solace in the prayer before the leave-taking.

Family is so important. Rejoice in family. Celebrate with your family and let the holidays be filled with Dee Dah Moments! Refuse to be part of any bashing of the in-laws. Decline the opportunities to gossip about or malign any of your near and dear ones. My appeal for you this holiday season is that you mend any bridges that may be broken, give a ’shout-out’ to those you’re proud of, reach out to a loved one who may be lonely with miles keeping them from family. If you can’t be with family for the holidays, pick up the phone and share some conversation. Let your supreme gift for those you love be the gift of graciousness. When all is said and done at the end of our days here on this earth we should be proud of how we conducted ourselves with family. Our homes should be a solace from the world where we know for certain we are accepted, cherished, and encouraged. Write the script today for magnificent memories tomorrow.
